Windows at Studio Montclair

I had no more canvas. All I had were long scraps and 4 stretchers. I needed to paint. I just really had to paint so I wrapped that canvas around the frame and absolutely love the strings and the rough edges and the raw desperation it reflects. I even blatantly scraped my name in there. I needed to make it happen, and I did.

Desperation

Body 36x26

Here I returned to a colorful piece that was not exciting at all. I didn't want to overwork it, so I went in the opposite direction.

Ancient

38x38

I love to see the energy of the paint. Flows and splashes are like emotion, passion. Then the stripes bring it in. This piece can be hung in any direction - keep turning it 90 degrees and see which way feels right for you.

Primitive

32.5x30

Like flashes of fireworks or frenzied fish in a tiny pond. The energy and movement is somehow cut off as if it was broken from a larger piece but held together by the underlying green framework.

Suspension

30x30x36x11

Overflowing the boundaries, plaster flows down over the sides. Layers of canvas, exposed rough edges, organically curling. Straight lines sidetracked with swipes of color. This is abstract.

Triangle

37x34x39

Is it a microorganism pushing at the sides, expanding the angles or a view from a satellite looking down at snow covered terrain during a crazy sunset. It points in one direction as it swirls in another. Look and feel.

Persevere

32x32x18x18x22

Desperation

40x30

Look very close. It's craziness. Splatters and smears and scrapes and spills. Colors over colors over bare canvas...but then step away. Just slowly move back and it calms. Like the view of the earth from space...it all comes together and flows in it's own sense of sanity.
